ironomi’s delicate field recordings capture the tangible atmosphere of a specfic time and place. “sketch” attempts to conjure something of the glaring light and torpid air of a Japanese summer using sound alone. The titles of these compositions invoke a literal kind of emotional color – specic nuances associated with the unique hue of summer insects, or the underside of leaves in the shade. In their own words, “sketch” is a sonic portrait of “a summer’s whispers”.
“So seldom is it that music truly permeates our daily spaces, with dripping melodies and explicit tenderness, than does Ironomi’s ’sketch’, on the ever-inspiring Kitchen label. Having been a listener of Ironomi’s works since their debut on STARNET MUZIK, these pieces never become so familiar that they aren’t as fresh as a dew-drenched morning, or of darkening, cricket-soundtracked evenings in nightlight. Everything is new, untouched, and retains its comfort, embellishing your surroundings. It’s the advantage of the artists being able to display absolute purity, even down to recording in the most perfect spaces. ’sketch’ is an honest, brilliant accomplishment.” – Will Long (Celer, Two Acorns)
